Description
ACEC North Carolina is hosting the “Placing Your Energy Bets” Energy Symposium. The way energy is bought and sold has been changing and will continue to dramatically change over the next decade. Renewable energy sources are coming onto the grid at a record pace, the new “Atlantic Coast Pipeline” is being built to transport gas from West Virginia through North Carolina, and we now have natural gas exploration legislation that allows hydraulic fracturing. At the same time, the deployment of “smart grid” and “microgrid” technologies are producing alternative means that allow power to be produced and distributed in new ways.
Additionally, there is continual opportunity to provide a variety of energy savings opportunities in new and existing buildings as innovative methods and practices develop and evolve. By placing an emphasis on the life cycle performance of a building a full spectrum of planning, repairing, renewing, and sustaining new and existing systems can be delivered.
The “Placing Your Energy Bets” Energy Symposium will be an opportunity to educate attendees and participants on the driving forces behind these changes from a variety of speakers from across the energy spectrum. Furthermore, they will leave better able and more knowledgeable in their capacity to prepare their companies to leverage new opportunities that are arising because of this transformation.
